Blessed Lenten season!
Lent is a season wherein each of us focus on self-examination, growth, and challenge, right in line with our BPBC 2021 vision. These next 40 days, as we look to celebrating Resurrection Sunday a.k.a. Easter, we seek intentional growth – some things taken away that hinder us and things added that further edify and build us up. As Elder Steve Hernandez reminded us early at Wednesday night Bible study, God desires obedience not sacrifice. May today, this season, offer us opportunity to give up who we have been for who we can become.
I have sought to, and I want to encourage each of you to, prepare yourself mentally, Spiritually, maybe even physically for the next 40 days. I am taking on the Lent season choosing to believe God is up to something, because He so faithfully, wants me/us to experience life to the full. Dr. Vicki Chua just reminded me earlier today about the responsibility, and more often than not the privilege, of preparing for times and seasons ahead. May each us see increase in our prophetic discernment and our love for those around us in this renewing season of Lent.
Besides marking out areas of growth and challenge, I love the fun idea of learning about men and women of the faith throughout the last two millennia through the idea of Lent Madness. Each day you can read and vote for whichever saint you believe should win the the 2021 Golden Halo. Interested in the creativity? Visit the following website, https://www.lentmadness.org/
It all starts tomorrow morning, Thursday, February, 18th. Yes, Lent Madness, but the entire season as well.
I look forward to what blessing and increase each of us might see in our lives as we intentionally seek out self-examination, growth, and challenge.
By His ever-renewing mercy,
Pastor Michael Miano
